Sarah Hatton's recent art involves many themes and tricks that one probably can't really draw any connections through, but if one must list them all then they would be community, metaphor, romance, nature, voyeurism, childhood whim, illusions of scale, and telepresence. She is currently exploring how text and image can be combined and manipulated to create new forms of visual storytelling and culture. Her art usually provides experiences that are compelling to all ages because of her own inability to grow up. Sarah is highly influenced by artist's such as Ken Goldberg, Rebecca Horn, Yayoi Kusama, and Paul DeMarinis as well as writers such as Janet Murray, Edward Tufte, Haruki Murakami, Ayn Rand, and, help her, JK Rowling.
